Anklets were worn in Northern Africa, mainly in Egypt, as a feminine type of jwewellery. It is usualy used to show a woman's marital status. Anklets were also gifted to by men as a symbol of love. 

 

Anklets/ Ankle bracelets are also worn all over Africa by cultural dancers whilst they perform. They come in different colours, materials and styles.

Seeded beads sre popularly used in East and South Africa. The jewellery pieces are usually crafted by women and take time and precision to create.

 

Each colour represents something different:

Green: Positive Energy
Blue: Faithfulness
Red: String Emotion
Black: Marriage
White: Love
Yellow: Wealth
Pink: Adds Emphasis to a promise

    To measure the correct length for your anklet, please measure an existing anklet you wear, or measure the section around your ankle you would like the anklet to sit and add between 0.3-0.5 inches on top of that length and the anklet should fit well.
